Much like Metallica's Kill 'Em All, the original version of Killing is my Business, had a very raw feel to it. And much like Kill 'Em All, it was slightly difficult to listen, at least at first. The remaster is greatly appreciated, for it removes the fuzzy, hard to hear sounds of the 1985 version, replacing them with a crisper, cleaner tone.

The band was given $8,000 by Combat to record and produce their debut, but they fired their original producer, produced it by themselves, and spent half of the budget on drugs, alcohol, and food. When originally released to cd 'killing is my business' was an ok debut album. The talent of Megadeth was there for all to see, but the cd was never going to be up there amongst my favourites. Its very difficult to give a lot of air time to a disc which had such bad sound production. With Megadeth, Mustaine had one goal, and that was to create something faster, heavier and more extreme than his former band. It's arguable, but I'd say he succeeded. 'Killing is My Business' certainly has a raw, ruthless energy to it, and whilst it oozes bloodthirsty hatred towards Hetfield and Ulrich, it sadly comes at the expense of the actual compositions.
